Hello out there,
thanks a lot for your interest in 34all.
1. There are basically two "equal weighted" reasons why 34all isn't open source at the moment.
a) The source code isn't in a particular good state. More concrete, even so I have some "professional" software development experience (quite a while ago so), I kind of learned Java/OO and of course prefuse while starting 34all and as a result of that the 34all architecture and coding style doesn't really deserve open source. Open source, from my point of view, only makes sense when the source has a certain quality (including comments etc). If 34all turns out to become something people want to use a re-engineering might and should happen and then open source 34all becomes an option.
b) Actually I really like this baby and I think this threefold view has some value. It is easy to imagine applications on top of this approach and I have some (more commercial) ideas floating around in my mind. For these ideas to manifest I would have to find a partner but honestly, I just don't want somebody to use 34all source code to do something similar at the moment. Nevertheless, as mentioned above, open source 34all as it is right now might be cryptical enough to prevent this to happen anyway
So to some up, basically most great software tools these days are open source - which is fantastic - so I have just have to work on making it great.
2. Applet, for sure the next step, thanks for reminding me. I am analyzing at the moment how sites listed in the “Open Directory Project” are interlinked and once this is set up, I want to visualize this network with 34all as an applet and make the applet also available.
3. PersonalBrain and also Touchgraph was what inspired me to start writing 34all. Goolge Related was by the way the first adapter I wrote for 34all, but at one point the quality of “google related” became kind of poor so I never put it on the web. But it looks they offer again great informations, so maybe I should reactive the Roogle Adapter
And toughgraph seems to have become really fancy, looks great - I just came across an older version before
So much for now, I hope I could clarify some of your questions. And once more, thank you very much for your feedback and interest in 34all and feel free to keep asking
be well
martin

2.
I suggest create a web applet for the user view .The web2.0 application need it.
3.
reference url:
http://www.touchgraph.com/TGGoogleBrowser.html
click the "touchgraph google" applet .It is a full application.
Details and filter list on the leftside panel is very useful.
